The city of Umatilla’s first annual Coats for Kids Polar Bear Plunge, originally a live event set for Jan. 2 at Umatilla Marina Park, is going virtual in order to keep the community safe.

The coat drive – a collaboration between the city and Umatilla-Morrow County Head Start – benefits children in need through age 18. Coats may be purchased online through Jan. 31.

Everyone who buys a coat receives a free custom coffee mug and will be entered to win one of three gift baskets. For information on how to participate, visit the event’s Facebook page.
