He was born Aug. 19, 1951 at Davenport, Iowa to William Francis and Thelma Jewel (Carter) Spoon.
Don loved his country and proudly served in the U.S. Army 1969 to 1972 in Vietnam. He moved to Umatilla in 2007 to be with his family and he remarried his high school sweetheart, Ollie Mae. The most important thing to him was his family. He was loved and respected by many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William & Thelma Spoon; and his sister, Pamala Carter.
He is survived by his wife, Ollie Mae of Umatilla; daughter, Dawn D. and her husband Abel Viesca of Umatilla; grandchildren, Crystal & Marcus Cole, Makayla, Ashley, James & Kalyn Anderson, Ray and soon to be 10 great-grand babies; and his extended family, the Viesca family.
Graveside Funeral Services with military honors will be held on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Umatilla.
