Umatilla's Jim McCall Passes Away at 74

James E. “Jim” McCall of Umatilla died on Dec. 18, 2016 in Kennewick, Wash., at the age of 74.

He was born on Oct. 27, 1942 in Enterprise to Roy and Alene Tucker McCall. Jim served in the United States Army and while at home on leave met Carolyn Samuelson. After his honorable discharge he returned home and on January 6, 1967 he married Carolyn. They lived in Elgin from 1974 until 1985 when they moved to La Grande. Jim worked as a log truck driver and later he drove long haul. They moved to Umatilla in 1989 where they have lived since. Jim drove truck for Les Schwab for the last 10 years of his career. He enjoyed hunting fishing, and most of all time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife: Carolyn McCall, Umatilla, OR; mother: Alene Burton, Milton Freewater, OR; sons: Jeff Gladwin, TN, Mark McCall, Stanfield, OR; daughters: Cindy Labadi, Seattle, WA, Annette, McCall, Umatilla, OR; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his father and 2 brothers: George & Jerry McCall.

A celebration of life service will be held on Monday, Dec. 26, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. at the Church of Christ, 215 E. 4th Ave., Kennewick, Wash.
