Two fourth-quarter touchdowns weren’t enough for the Hermiston Bulldogs to upend the Union Titans in Vancouver, Wash., Friday afternoon.

Hermiston’s first game of the season ended with a 35-21 defeat, similar to last season’s 36-27 season-opening loss to the Titans.

Titan quarterback Lincoln Victor threw for three touchdowns and 199 yards. A fourth-quarter touchdown pass from Victor to Alishawuan Taylor put Union up 35-6.

Hermiston quarterback Andrew James connected with Dayshawn Neal on a 16-yard touchdown pass about midway through the final quarter. A two-point conversion made the score 35-14. James hit Neal for a three-yard touchdown pass with just seconds remaining to make the final score 35-21.

James had scored Hermiston’s first touchdown on a 1-yard carry in the second quarter.

Hermiston will host Lewiston in a rematch from last year’s Week 2 game which saw the Bulldogs fall to 0-2 after the 38-13 loss. The kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Kennison Field.
