Hermiston High School business teacher Roger Berger has been honored by the University of Nevada Las Vegas Teacher Recognition Program.

Freshman students at UNLV were asked to name a teacher who “made a difference in their life, whose influence encouraged them to further their education and pursue a college degree.” Berger was one teacher selected from hundreds of nominations.

“Too often, the impact that high school teachers have on their students goes unnoticed,” said Carrie Trentham, director of admissions, in a recognition letter. “We are pleased to host a program that highlights the important work of those who dedicate their professional careers to influencing future generations.”

The Hermiston School District is encouraging community members to suggest outstanding Hermiston students and staff members to be recognized as part of the district’s Shout Out to Success program. Suggestions can be e-mailed to Briana Cortaberria, the district’s communications officer, at Briana.Cortaberria@hermiston.k12.or.us.
