Venita LaRose DePue, 87, of Kennewick, Wash., died after a long illness on Feb. 21, 2015, at the age of 87.

Venita was born June 12, 1927 in Union to Lewis and Florence (Harrison) Cross. In 1945 she graduated from Union High School. After graduation she became a telephone operator in La Grande.

On Sept. 25, 1951 she married Donald DePue in La Grande. They lived in La Grande until 1959 when they moved to Hermiston. She was a homemaker. For many years she worked as a Democratic election supervisor and was active in Camp Fire Girls. She was an active patron of the Hermiston branch of the Umatilla County Library.

She enjoyed traveling and traveled to Europe, Canada, and around the United States.

She is survived by her children, Cherie Marston (Steven), Kenda Christian and Kaye MaGula; five grandchildren, Priscilla, Art, Tiah, Meagan & Kelli Jean; and two great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald DePue; and her sister, Lorena Gentry.

A funeral service will be held at a later date.
