Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution (EOCI) is slowly returning to normal operations following a pair of lockdowns due to inmate fights. Regular visiting will resume on June 4.
EOCI was placed on lockdown twice in late May following multiple inmate fights. An ongoing investigation is being conducted to determine the cause of the incident, according to the Oregon Department of Corrections.
EOCI was placed on lockdown initially on May 26 after the first fights broke out. It had transitioned from lockdown to normal operations earlier in the day on Friday, May 30, and visiting was set to resume on Saturday, May 31. A disturbance on May 30 involving 14 inmates, however, resulted in the prison canceling visitations.
EOCI is a medium-security prison located in Pendleton that houses approximately 1,700 men in custody.
