The annual free Community Thanksgiving Dinner in Hermiston is expected to serve hundreds of people on Thursday, Nov. 24.

Volunteers are making preparations now for the annual event that takes place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hermiston Senior Center, 435 W. Orchard Ave. The dinner, organized by Laurie Ball-Kiser, has been held each year since 1990, along with the annual Christmas dinner. Volunteers help with the food preparation, greeting guests, serving guests and delivering meals to homes. Each dinner serves as many as 600 people or more. The dinner is open to everyone in the community.

Once theThanksgiving dinner is over, Ball-Kiser and her volunteers will begin preparing for the Christmas Day dinner.

Anyone interested in volunteering or to order a delivered meal should call Jodene at First Christian Church 541-567-3013.
