Looking forward to a delicious Thanksgiving dinner, but don’t want to go to the trouble of preparing it? No worries – the annual Thanksgiving Community Fellowship Dinner is open to everyone and it won’t cost you a penny.

Each year, on Thanksgiving and Christmas, literally hundreds of volunteers work together to put on the holiday dinners at the Hermiston Senior Center. This year – as always – the Thanksgiving dinner will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. And don’t worry about the food running out. Thanks to community donations from local businesses, the dinner was able to serve 634 people.

Organizer Laurie Ball-Kiser has been helping put the dinners together since 1990. She depends upon her many volunteers to pull off a successful dinner. Last year, about 200 people helped out by greeting guests, cooking, serving and delivering meals to homes.

Once the Thanksgiving dinner is over, Ball-Kiser and her volunteers will begin preparing for the Christmas Day dinner.

Anyone interested in volunteering should call Ball-Kiser at 541-567-8600.
