Two Umatilla County ballot measures to ensure confidence in the office of sheriff are passing with nothing to see in the rearview mirror.

Measure 30-164 adds a residency requirement for sheriff in the Umatilla County Charter. Anyone filling the office of sheriff at the time of taking office and during the term of office must reside in the county.

Voters are overwhelmingly passing the measure 91.3% to 8.8%.

Measure 30-165 increases the minimum age for persons holding the office of sheriff in Umatilla County from 21 to 25 years of age. Voters are passing that measure 82% to 18%.
