U.S. Rep. Greg Walden (R-Hood River) completed his 147th town hall meeting since 2012 on Tuesday in Harney County. Walden also held town halls in Baker, Union, and Wallowa counties on Monday. Walden holds at least one town hall meeting in all 20 counties throughout Oregon’s vast Second Congressional District every year, and has held 17 town hall meetings so far in 2017.

“We had really good discussions about health care, about forest policy, about range management, and a host of other issues,” Walden said. “These town halls are really important as we work on legislation in Washington, and help people solve problems here at home – from veterans, to seniors, and people with individual situations.”

Walden held a meeting with community leaders in Grant County on Tuesday to discuss issues affecting the local community in John Day. He also met with onion growers and local officials in Malheur County on Monday to receive an update on rebuilding efforts after this year’s destructive winter. Walden has communicated with White House officials on the need for a federal disaster declaration to provide much needed assistance to the communities of Malheur county.
