Walter Burchett, 60, Minot, N.D. and formerly of Oregon, died on Aug. 8, 2020 in a Minot hospital.
Walter was born on Sept. 19, 1959 in Prosser, Wash. to Willis H. and Anna L. Riley Burchett.
He called Oregon home during his youth and graduated from Stanfield High School in 1978. Walter continued his secondary education at Northwest Bible College in Minot and completed his education journey at Lee University in Cleveland, Tenn. He returned to Oregon and spent his working years as a paralegal for many years. Walter moved to Florida and started a second career as a truck driver. In 2003, he moved to Minot to be near family. He became a resident of Trinity Homes in 2011.
Walter enjoyed the process of restoring old vehicles, was known to many as quite the handyman, and enjoyed the outdoors while hunting and fishing. He was a member of Hermiston Church of God and NRA.
Walter is survived by his children, Christopher Burchett, Shawn Burchett and Brandon Burchett; mother, Anna L. Burchett, Hermiston; siblings, Eva (Dan) Inches, Minot, Millie (Greg) Waggoner, Puyallup, Wash., Jim (Tracy) Burchett, Stanfield and Adila Gibson, Hermiston; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Walter was preceded in death by his father.
A memorial gathering for family and friends will be held on Sunday, Aug. 16, 2020 from 1 until 3 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Interment will be at the Hermiston Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials are preferred.
