The Hermiston Warming Station will be open tonight and will remain open through the weekend as the temperatures are expected to dip below the freezing level and a chance of snow is forecast for Eastern Oregon.
The warming station is located at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Hermiston, 855 W. Highland Avenue. Check-in time is between 7 and 9 p.m. Pets can be dropped off at Pet Rescue in Hermiston at 4:30 p.m. and must be picked up by 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
The Hermiston Warming Station is a coalition of community members representing religious congregations, nonprofit support service providers and local government agencies who have come together to ensure that people who are experiencing homelessness in the Hermiston area have a warm and safe place to sleep when the temperature drops below 32 degrees during the winter season. The warming station operates from December through March.
The National Weather Service is forecasting overnight temperatures below the freezing level throughout the weekend with a chance of rain tonight, snow on Saturday and ice pellets on Sunday.
