Hermiston High School experienced a water main break in one of the school’s wings, forcing an early closure of the school and canceling classes on Friday.
According to the Hermiston School District, a “major water break in the 92 wing of HHS,” occurred early Thursday afternoon. Freezing temperatures was the cause of the break, according to the district. As a result, the school began dismissing students who had their own transportation and those who walk home early. Bus transportation for students took place at the normal times.
Bus students were able to wait in the school’s auditorium or gym to wait for their bus rides.
The school will be closed on Friday to allow for assessment and repair of damages.
