The National Weather Service out of Pendleton has issued a wind advisory for today and Tuesday affecting the Eastern Oregon region and beyond.
The wind advisory goes into effect at 1 p.m. today and is expected to last until Tuesday morning. High southwest winds are forecast to blow between 25-35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. Areas affected include east Columbia River Gorge; foothills of the Northern Blue Mountains of Oregon; foothills of the Southern Blue Mountains of Oregon; Lower Columbia Basin of Oregon; and North Central Oregon.
The NWS expects the strongest winds will be with a cold frontal passage this evening and into the night.
The weather service also advised residents to secure outdoor objects and use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high-profile vehicle.
