Wildhorse Foundation is moving to an online application process for organizations seeking funding.
The online application will be implemented for the Jan. 1 deadline.
The Wildhorse Foundation is community benefit fund established by the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation (CTUIR) to support organizations in northeastern Oregon and southeastern Washington; the Tribes homeland. Each year the Wildhorse Foundation makes grants to eligible organizations within that homeland area: Morrow, Umatilla, Union and Wallowa counties in Oregon, the Tribes Ceded Territory in Washington which covers most of Benton, Columbia and Walla Walla Counties, CTUIR, any Native American Tribal Government Agency or Native American Charitable Organization with its principal office and base of operations within the State of Oregon, or any national Indian organization.
More than 1,700 local and regional non-profits have benefited from the $9.9 million given by the Foundation since its inception in 2001.
The Wildhorse Foundation Board consider grants that cover the areas of public health, public safety, education, the arts, historic preservation, gambling addiction services, salmon restoration, environmental protection, and cultural activities.
As before, the quarterly deadlines for applications to the Foundation are January 1, April 1, July 1 and October 1 at 5 p.m. Organizations interested in applying for a grant are encouraged to visit the foundation website to submit an application or learn more about the Foundation’s giving process.
“We are excited to use the new software that we began to implement earlier this fall,” said Tiah DeGrofft, administrator of the Wildhorse Foundation. “Not only will this allow the Foundation to be more efficient and streamlined, it should provide an enhanced experience for our applicants and allow us all to be environmental conscious, which is of the utmost importance to our Tribes.”
