Wildhorse Resort & Casino is hosting a canned food drive to benefit St. Mary’s Outreach during the Hunger Games: Mockingjay 2 movie premier.
The popular series with debut its latest edition at the Wildhorse Cineplex Nov. 18. Guests are encouraged to bring canned food in exchange for popcorn and a soft drink. Guests that bring two cans of food will receive a free small popcorn and small soft drink while movie goers that bring four cans of food will receive a free medium popcorn and medium soft drink.
The holiday season is always a busy time for the food bank. Marge Normington-Jones from St. Mary’s Outreach said the food bank is more than happy to be the recipient of the donation. She noted that there was especially in need of canned fruit, peanut butter, and canned meals such as chili and Spaghetti O’s.
Tiah DeGrofft, community relations director at Wildhorse Resort & Casino said that the resort is always looking for ways to include charities with the events that happen on the property.
“The name, Hunger Games, lent itself so well to a food drive, we thought it would be a fun way to spin the popular movie into a charitable event,” she said.
The food drive will be open Nov. 18-20, from 3:30-7:30 p.m. in the Cineplex lobby.
