The colors, songs and pageantry of the Wildhorse Resort & Casino Pow Wow will be back July 1-3.

More than $80,000 in cash and prizes will be up for grabs at the 22nd Annual event. Wildhorse expects 25 drum groups to be on hand and more than 300 native dancers in the competition. The colorful dance performances, as well as the Native American food and craft booths are free to the public.

The grand entry kicks off each day’s events as participants parade into the Pow Wow arena in their colorful regalia to start the dancing and singing competition. The festivities will take place on the grass Pow Wow arena adjacent to the Wildhorse Resort & Casino and begin at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 1 and 1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, July 2 and 3.

A variety of food, souvenirs and Native American arts and crafts vendors will be on hand around the Pow Wow dance arena, offering everything from Indian fry bread to beadwork, clothing and jewelry.

A Pow Wow is not possible without drums. Award-winning Cree Confederation, from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, will be host drum for the 22nd annual event. Representing the people of Treaty Six First Nations, Cree Confederation bridges the older Pow Wow singing style with the contemporary evolution of today’s vibrant Pow Wow culture.

The drumming competition for the participating groups will offer more than $30,000 in cash and prizes, including a first prize of $12,000.

Hotel, RV Park, and Tipi Village reservations can be made by calling 800-654-9453.
