Wildhorse Resort & Casino will provide more than $90,000 in cash and prizes at the 23rd annual Wildhorse Pow Wow June 30-July 2.

Wildhorse expects 25 drum groups to be on hand and more than 300 native dancers in the competition.  The colorful dance performances, as well as the Native American food and craft booths are free to the public

The grand entry kicks off each day’s events as participants parade into the Pow Wow arena in their colorful regalia to start the dancing and drumming competition. The festivities will take place on the grass Pow Wow arena next to the Wildhorse Resort and Casino Cineplex.  The grand entry begins at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 30 and 1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, July 1-2.

A variety of food and Native American arts and crafts will be available on the grounds.  Over 50 vendor booths are anticipated around the Pow Wow dance arena, offering everything from Indian fry bread to beadwork, clothing and jewelry.

Young Spirit from Frog Lake, Alberta, Canada, will act as host drum for the 23rd Annual event.  Young Spirit was formed in the summer of 2001 at a Pow-Wow in Hobbema Alberta. Acclaimed for their exciting performances that compliments the Round Dance style singing, their music never fails to get people on the dance floor. The drumming competition will offer more than $30,000 in cash and prizes, including a first prize of $12,000.  This year a Hand Drum Contest will be held on Saturday and Sunday.
