The National Weather Service promised wind gusts up to 70 mph over the weekend, and that’s what we got – and then some.
Gusts of 79 mph were recorded at Helix Saturday night – the strongest wind in all of Umatilla County during the weekend windstorm. Gusts reached 66 mph at 3 p.m. on Saturday in Irrigon. The wind had gusts of up to 58 mph at the Hermiston Airport Saturday afternoon.
The weather service forecasts nothing but light breezes for the coming days. We should get our share of sunshine today and Thursday with a high of 49 today and 43 Thursday.
Patchy freezing fog is forecast for the evenings and early mornings this week.
The weekend will be a bit chilly, with highs of 40 degrees, but the sun is expected to shine throughout Saturday and Sunday.
