This just in: Winter has no plans to fade away any time soon.

With new snow falling and more on the way, the National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning in effect now until 4 a.m. on Wednesday.

As much as 3 to 5 inches of new snow is expected to fall during the next couple of days with a total accumulation of nearly 8 inches throughout much of the Lower Columbia Basin and the Northern Blue Mountains.

Travel is expected to be difficult with hazardous conditions impacting morning and evening commutes.

The snow that fell overnight and into the morning caused Blue Mountain Community College to cancel all classes on Monday. The Hermiston School District was on a 2-hour delay.

Snow is expected to fall well into this evening with a break on Tuesday before more snow falls again beginning early Wednesday morning. Temperatures are forecast to be below freezing during the next 10 days, with more snow forecast to fall on March 6, meaning the snow will could stay with us into the spring season.
