Woman in Jail After Allegedly Setting Barn on Fire with Propane & Torch

A woman is facing a first-degree arson charge after she allegedly set fire to a barn in Milton-Freewater using propane and a hand-held torch.

Just before 9 p.m. on Wednesday, the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office was notified by the Milton-Freewater Police Department of a barn on fire at 1571 N. Elizabeth St.

According to the UCSO, fire units were on scene and Milton-Freewater police had a female detained at the scene.

An investigation on scene determined Leeann Rose Pratt, 40, allegedly set fire to the barn using a five-gallon propane tank and handheld torch. UCSO said multiple witnesses provided statements which resulted in Pratt being charged with first-degree arson as well as a subsequent charge of parole/LSA violation.

Pratt is currently lodged in the Umatilla County Jail.
