The Oregon Department of Transportation will resume work on Highway 395 this month.

This project, along U.S. 395 between S.E. 4th in Hermiston and Interstate 84, was scheduled to end October 2021. Some corrective work and project completion tasks require the contractor to extend the project into April and May, according to ODOT.

Project benefits include new pavement on 6.5 miles of U.S. 395, upgraded curb ramps in south Hermiston and throughout downtown Stanfield, and lane reconfiguration through Stanfield to encourage slower and safer speeds in town, while offering increased safety and mobility for pedestrians and bicyclists.

The contractor will be onsite beginning the week of April 18. All work is expected to be finished early May.

Crews are scheduled to work Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Times are approximate and crews may work longer depending on the specific task.

You can expect to see crews at the following locations in the next few weeks:

  • Hermiston:
    • Crews will finish ADA curb ramps on the two east corners at SE View Drive.
  • Stanfield:
    • The contractor will repair concrete at various locations throughout downtown.
    • Crews will be installing handrail at SW Coe.
  • Sections of U.S. 395:
    • Repairs to asphalt will be made at various locations along the entire length of project, between mileposts 6.03 and 12.52.
    • Crews will finish with permanent striping.

Crews will be working at other locations throughout the project area on utilities, landscaping and other tasks necessary for project completion.

We will have temporary pedestrian detours at SE View Drive and in various locations in Stanfield. Pedestrians, including those with disabilities, will be allowed access around the work zone at all times.

Expect lane closures along U.S. 395 for paving and striping. Watch for flaggers, work crews and equipment. Be prepared to slow down or stop in work zones.
