A wrong-way driver suffered minor injuries Saturday afternoon after colliding with an Oregon State Police car on Interstate 84.

The OSP vehicle suffered heavy damage, but the trooper walked away.

Just prior to 2 p.m., OSP dispatch received a report of a wrong-way drive on I-84 near milepost 342. The reporting party described the vehicle as a silver sedan driving westbound in the eastbound lanes.

Troopers in the area responded in an attempt to locate the driver.

At 2:04 p.m., a senior trooper “located the wrong-way driver just prior to colliding with it” at milepost 327, according to the OSP.

The driver of the suspect vehicle was transported to a hospital for minor injuries. The trooper was evaluated at the hospital and released.

The suspect was charged with second-degree attempted assault, reckless driving and reckless endangerment. He was lodged in the Baker County Jail.
