Knitters, crocheters, and all yarn crafters are invited to get together to celebrate “Knit in Public Day” on Saturday, June 10, at McKenzie Park in Hermiston.

There is no charge to attend the event.

The Hermiston Yarn Club, a crafting group which normally meets at the Hermiston Library, will offer lessons and demonstrations to people interested in learning to knit or crochet. Free patterns, yarn, and supplies will be offered while supplies last. Knitters and crocheters of all skill levels are welcome to drop by for “show and tell” and to meet others who share their passion for yarncrafts. Spinners and weavers are also invited to bring their handiwork, a chair, and a shade canopy if desired.

The world-wide event was begun in 2005 and takes place on the second Saturday in June. It began as a way for knitters to come together and enjoy each others’ company, and has expanded into an informal network to expand the craft.
