Sixty new homes will be going up in Umatilla following a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Phase II of the Ballard Development.

Boylan Realty of Hermiston and the Hermiston Chamber of Commerce hosted the event on Thursday, May 23 on the corner of Powerline Road and Quail Avenue.

A variety of floor plans, elevations and price ranges will be offered, said Jared Faris of Monagram of Pasco, who is building the homes.

“We’re excited to get going on Phase II,” said Faris. Monogram also built the 64 homes that were part of Phase I.

Melissa Boylan, who along with her husband, Mike, owns Boylan Realty. She said the lots are already attracting potential buyers.

“We have a waiting list of about 30 people,” Boylan said. “It’s going to fill up fast.”

The prices range from $277,950 to $359,950 and feature three or four bedrooms and garages that can fit three or four vehicles.

Buyers can customize, as well, said Boylan.

“They can pick out their cabinets and flooring,” she said.

The Boylans opened their business in November 2021 and moved into their new building on S.W. Third Street in Hermiston in April 2022. Since then, the couple have added three realtors to their team, Kim Griffen, Dana Stacy and Linda Andreason, who is representing the new subdivision.

“Business has been great since we opened our brokerage in November 2021,” Boylan said. “We are very fortunate that our local area is continuing to grow and flourish.  We get phone calls from people all the time that are moving into the area and looking for housing – sometimes in a time crunch.”

Boylan said Umatilla is a growing housing market that is needed as more jobs open up in the area.

“One advantage in buying in Umatilla is that taxes are cheaper than Hermiston,” Boylan said. “With new developments from Monte Vista and Monogram of Pasco, they are developing much needed housing to support the influx of jobs in the area from large employers such as Amazon.”
