State Rep. Greg Smith (R-Heppner) has been selected to lead a panel on workforce
development and apprenticeships at the Dorchester Conference on Saturday, April 27 at Mt. Hood Resort in Welches.
Smith will facilitate the discussion focused on enhancing apprenticeship opportunities to strengthen Oregon’s workforce.
Smith will lead a discussion with esteemed experts, including:
- Tricia Mooney, Superintendent of Public Instruction, Hermiston School District
- Jimbo Anderson, Business Manager, Operating Engineers Local 701
- Todd Mustard, Chapter Manager, National Electrical Contractors Association
- Michelle Fussell, State/Local Government Relations, Ironworkers Local 29
- Jed Hartley, MBA, Director of Training and Development
Mooney is currently spearheading the development of the Columbia Basin Apprenticeship Center. The discussion will delve into successful strategies for integrating apprenticeship programs within public and private sectors, highlighting the critical role of partnerships in fostering a skilled workforce that can meet the evolving demands of the economy.
