Eleanor Pourier Passes Away at 78

Eleanor M. Pourier of Umatilla died on Sept. 15, 2025 at her home at the age of 78.

She was born on July 17, 1947 in Kadoka, S.D. to Benjamin R. and Hazel Rooks Pourier.

Eleanor moved to Umatilla in 1964; she had lived in various places throughout Oregon and Washington in her lifetime. Starting at an early age, she birthed four children, Marvin, Melina, Michael and another daughter.

She married Clifford B. Conner Jr. of Baker City on Aug. 16, 1969 and John Berry of Portland in the late ‘80s.

Eleanor worked in housekeeping. She enjoyed crafts, making dream catchers, painting, Harley motorcycle rides, being a Free Bird and her dog, Teddy.

Survivors include her son, Marvin Pourier of Umatilla; daughters, Melina Pourier of Puyallup, Wash. and a daughter of Hermiston; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Brenda (Keith) Curnutt of Irrigon; and brother-in-law, Jack Chivington of Boardman.

She was preceded in death by her son, Michael A. Pourier; grandson, Skyler M. Pourier; parents, Ben and Hazel Rooks Pourier; brothers, John Trundle Jr., Maynard Pourier and Rodger Pourier; and sisters, Betty June Pourier Patton, Roberta Pourier Chivington, Marilyn Pourier and Nora Pourier Taylor.

Eleanor requested that her ashes go for one more Harley ride and continue being a Free Bird.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later time.

Burns Mortuary of Hermiston is in care of arrangements.
