HERMISTON, Ore.-The Good Shepherd Community Health Foundation (GSCHF) recently announced the recipients of its Fall Grants cycle.
The GSCHF awarded $126,356.59 in support of programs that foster healthier lives, safer environments, and stronger families across Umatilla and Morrow counties.
“These grants demonstrate our commitment to a healthier future by investing in prevention, emergency preparedness, and community well-being,” said Liz Marvin, Good Shepherd Community Health Foundation Executive Director.
Programs and initiatives focused on ensuring that residents have access to vital lifelong health resources, including early childhood support, chronic disease management, and emergency response, received grant funding.
“From equipping first responders with lifesaving tools to supporting healthy families and youth development, we are proud to strengthen the foundation of health across our service area,” said Marvin.
Initiatives and organizations receiving GSCHF grants
- TruCare Pregnancy Clinic: $1,100 to fund two Incredible Yearsparenting workshops, which provide evidence-based tools to strengthen parenting skills, improve child behavior, and foster healthier family dynamics.
- Good Shepherd Emergency Department: $1,586.84 for the purchase of behavioral-safe toys and stuffed animals to reduce stress, anxiety, and trauma for pediatric patients, supporting emotional well-being during emergency care.
- Good Shepherd Diabetes and Nutrition Center: $4,692 for a subscription to the Everfit online health coach platform, helping individuals with diabetes and other conditions access personalized nutrition planning and ongoing health education.
- Camp Meadowood Springs: $6,750 to fund scholarships for six Umatilla County children to attend Speech & Hearing Camp, improving communication, confidence, and long-term developmental health.
- Hermiston Parks and Recreation: $7,500 Installation of three Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) at community recreation sites, providing life-saving cardiac emergency response for residents of all ages.
- Hermiston Cultural Awareness Coalition: $8,000 in support of Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations, which encourage community belonging and mental well-being through cultural pride and social connection.
- Family Health and Fitness Day 2026: $8,000 in support of the free community event at EOTEC offering health screenings, education, and family activities to promote prevention, early detection, and healthier lifestyles.
- Irrigon Junior/Senior High School – $8,000.00 for completion of tennis courts to promote physical activity, youth development, and community wellness through safe recreation opportunities.
- Heppner Community Foundation: $10,000 for the purchase of an outdoor modular fitness rig, expanding access to physical activity resources that reduce chronic disease risk and promote active living.
- Good Shepherd Health Care System ICU: $12,000 for the acquisition of a new bladder scanner to improve diagnostic accuracy, reduce complications, and enhance patient outcomes in intensive care.
- Stanfield Community Center: $13,499.95 for the addition of a 16’ x 28’ Amish Pavilion to provide a healthy outdoor environment for community meals, gatherings, and wellness activities.
- Umatilla County Fire District #1: $20,667.80 for the purchase of video laryngoscopes to improve airway management, ensuring safer, faster, and more effective emergency medical response.
- Irrigon Rural Fire Protection District: $24,560 for NFPA-compliant protective apparel for volunteer firefighters, safeguarding the health and safety of responders as they serve the community.
The GSCHF works to enhance the quality of life and the health of residents in West Umatilla and Morrow Counties, providing resources to initiatives, projects, and organizations that address the health needs of the community.
Community organizations are encouraged to apply for the next GSCHF grant cycle, which opens December 1 and closes January 31, 2026.
