HERMISTON, Ore.-A custom playhouse recently built by Hermiston High School’s Construction Tech 2 class has been donated back to the school to raise funds for future projects.
Built by students in Hermiston’s Construction Tech 2 class, the custom-built playhouse was modeled after a MonteVista Homes design to help promote the new Upland Meadows development.
Hermiston High students Lane Simmons, Adam Thomas, Logan Vertrees, and Nathaniel Henderson designed and built the playhouse. According to the Hermiston School District, the project was part of a learning partnership to connect education, industry and community, and showcases the craftsmanship and teamwork students are developing through hands-on instruction.
“This playhouse isn’t just a structure, it’s a symbol of what our students can achieve when given meaningful opportunities,” said Micah Mercer, construction instructor. “We’re incredibly grateful to MonteVista Homes for investing in our students and supporting their growth.”
MonteVista Homes donated the playhouse, which was completed in late October, back to Hermiston High School to be auctioned off, with proceeds benefiting the school’s construction program, which equips students with practical, career-ready skills that extend beyond the classroom, according to the district.
Raffle tickets for the custom playhouse will be available at the Hermiston Kiwanis Christmas Tree Lot, at Hermiston High School basketball games, and may also be purchased directly from Construction Tech students.
