Elaine Ruby Lindquist of Hermiston passed away on Dec. 16, 2025 in Kennewick, Wash. at the age of 98.
She was born on Oct. 4, 1927 in Boy River, Minn. to Edward and Tressie Newman Aldrich.
In 1940 the family moved to Elk River, Minn., where she graduated from high school in 1945. In 1946, the family moved to Eastern Oregon, settling in the Hermiston area. Elaine married her high school sweetheart, Melvin L. Lindquist on Sept. 15, 1946 after he returned from serving four years in the Navy. Elaine worked at Lamb Weston in Hermiston for several years. She was a member of New Hope Community Church in Hermiston. Elaine enjoyed flowers, knitting, music, jigsaw puzzles and traveling with Melvin on his motorcycle and in their RV, spending many winters snow birding in Arizona.
She is survived by her son, Jerry Lindquist, Kennewick, Wash.; grandchildren, Sara, Jared, Cody and Meranda; and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.
Elaine was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Melvin; two sons, Randy and Gene Lindquist; brother, Leslie Aldrich; sister, Eleanor Sage; and two grandsons, Ryan and Stacey.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, Dec. 22, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Burns Mortuary Chapel, Hermiston.
Burial will follow at the Hermiston Cemetery.
