HERMISTON, Ore.-Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) crews are now in Phase 2B of a project to upgrade curb ramps in the eastern part of the state, including along Highway 395 through Hermiston.

Curb ramps in eastern Oregon are being upgraded as part of a larger state-wide effort to meet current ADA standards and increase safety and seamless access for people who walk, bike or roll.

Due to the number of curb ramps in Hermiston, the project was split into two phases, with Phase 2A completed in October 2025, according to ODOT.

The improvements include upgrades to existing curb ramps and pedestrian signals, as well as the installation of ADA-compliant curb ramps and pedestrian signals where there are none.

Curb ramp upgrades on 395 started on Theater Lane and will continue at various points heading south to 4th Street, with work scheduled for Monday through Friday. Businesses in the affected areas will remain open, however, drivers and pedestrians should expect sidewalk, lane or shoulder closures.
