HERMISTON, Ore.-A $30,000 Wildhorse Foundation grant will allow the City of Hermiston to help fund construction of a new storage facility and garage at Agape House, located at 500 West Harper Road in Hermiston.
“We value organizations like Agape House and the volunteers who are meeting real needs for families and individuals,” said Byron Smith, Hermiston City Manager.
Agape House provides food, clothes and other goods for people in the greater Hermiston area, and the City of Hermiston has sponsored grant applications in support of the nonprofit.
The $30,000 Wildhorse grant will help complete the new building that will add storage space for donations to Agape House, according to the City.
“As our community grows, it’s important that these organizations are able to keep up with the growing needs that come with that,” said Smith.
The Wildhorse Foundation is a community fund managed by the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation in partnership with Wildhorse Resort & Casino that makes grants available to eligible nonprofit, government, and Tribal organizations within the homeland area of the Cayuse, Umatilla, and Walla Walla people.
Wildhorse Foundation grants are awarded quarterly, with application deadlines of January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1.
