SALEM, Ore.-Several rural Oregon communities will host free worker safety and health training workshops this summer.
The workshops, a partnership between the Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Division (Oregon OSHA) and the Oregon Employment Department, are designed for those already in the workforce, as well as those seeking employment.
According to OSHA, the workshops will include “focus four” training, to teach people about the four hazards that pose the greatest risk of death in the construction industry, including falls, caught in or between, struck-by, and electrocution.
The four-hour workshops will also address heat-illness prevention, workers’ rights and whistleblower protections, as well as provide information for workers and employers in small businesses.
The training workshops will be held at WorkSource Oregon Centers and presented by Oregon OSHA staff members.
Attendees of the workshops will get certificates of completion and will have the opportunity to earn continuing education credits.
