Kathie Winters Passes Away at 70

Kathie A. Winters of Echo died on July 7, 2026 in Hermiston at the age of 70.

She was born on April 10, 1956 in Panama City, Fla. to Steve and Betty Blakovich.

Kathie’s father was in the military, therefore she spent her childhood growing up throughout the United States and the Netherlands. She graduated from high school in Holland and married Clinton Winters on Feb. 16, 1974 in Brunssum, Netherlands. They lived in Harper and around Eastern Oregon before moving to Dallas in 1988. Kathie worked as a bookkeeper for Falcon Cable in Dallas before they moved to Echo in 2001, where they have lived since. Kathie worked for North Coast Electric as a bookkeeper in Hermiston for several years. She enjoyed flowers and traveling and cherished time with her family.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Clinton Winters, Echo; sons, Jerrod Winters, Echo and Todd Winters and wife Robin, Echo; brother, Steve “Bud” Blakovich, Kentucky; sister, Stacy Johns, Colorado; grandchildren, Asa, Ty and wife Allison, and Lacy; great-granddaughter, Avery; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Kathie was preceded in death by her parents.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at 11 a.m. at the Echo Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Kathie’s memory may be made to the Echo Quarterback Club.
