Kathleen B. “Kathie” Mallory of Hermiston died on Aug. 11, 2026 in Richland, Wash. at the age of 83.
She was born on Aug. 25, 1942 in Salem to John and Kathryn Hauck Evans.
Kathie attended grade schools in Eugene, Burns and Bend and later attended high school in Burns, and then graduated from Klamath Union High School in Klamath Falls. She then attended Emanuel Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1963. Kathie worked at Emanuel, Woodland Park and Providence hospitals in Portland.
She was united in marriage to William “Bill” Mallory on Sept. 4, 1964 in Portland. In 1986 they moved to Burns, where Kathie served as the director of nursing until 1988. They then moved to Hermiston, where she went to work for Good Shepherd as the vice president of nursing, a position she held until retiring in 2007. After retiring, Kathie was active in many community organizations: Good Shepherd Hospital Auxiliary, volunteering in the day surgery waiting area, Beta Sigma Phi, Kiwanis sporting events, Christmas decorations, Relay for Life, Good Shepherd Foundation, and a member of Grace and Mercy Church.
Kathie loved camping, hot air balloon rides, reading, traveling, being a snow-bird, and most of all being a mom, Granny, Nana and friend.
She is survived by her daughter, Michele Rene Davidson and her husband John, Portland; son, Michael Patrick Mallory and his wife Jeanna, Hermiston; sister, Sally Smith; California; grandchildren, Brittney, Derrek, Brooke and Katie; great-grandchildren, Ander, Adam, Harper and Manny; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Kathie was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Mallory; her parents; and a brother, John Evans Jr.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2026 at 11 a.m. at Burns Mortuary Chapel, Hermiston.
