PENDLETON, Ore.-The Pendleton Friends of the Library (PFOL) Book Sale will be held at a new location this year.
The annual sale will take place October 23-25 at the Pendleton Recreation Center located next to the library at 510 SW Dorion Ave.
Hosting the sale at the Rec Center, rather than at the Pendleton Convention Center will make transporting and setting up books easier, according to event organizers.
Previously, books had to be loaded onto pallets and transported to the Convention Center, before volunteers spent five days unloading and setting up the sale.
The Rec Center will make it easier to move books from the sorting room below the library to the sale and the PFOL board hopes the new location will reduce the time commitment of volunteers.
Volunteers for the book sale are still needed from October 22-25. Those interested in helping either before or during the book sale can reach out via email to PendletonFriendsOfTheLibrary@gmail.com.
Inside the Rec Center, the book sale will run the same way as it has in the past, with tables of books labeled by category and signs posted to direct customers, according to PFOL.
Featuring over 50,000 books and media for sale, including children’s books, adult fiction, nonfiction, music CDs and DVDs, as well as ephemera and bookish gifts, the annual book sale is PFOL’s largest fundraiser of the year.
All funds raised through the book sale go to PFOL to support programs, materials and other needs at the Pendleton Public Library.
Friday, October 23 will be a special pre-sale night with a $5 admission. The General Sale on Saturday and Sunday will be free, as will admission to the Bag Sale, where shoppers can fill a bag with books or electronic media and pay only $3 for the entire bag.
