Hermiston's Tyler Brown Passes Away at 25

Tyler Dale Brown died on June 22, 2015 as the result of an automobile accident near Rufus at the age of 25.

He was born on Jan. 13, 1990 in Hermiston to Robert “Bob” and Donna Ketchersid Brown. Tyler was raised in Hermiston. He attended Rocky Heights Elementary, Armand Larive Middle School, and Hermiston High School. He graduated in class of 2008. Growing up, Tyler participated in many different sports including youth soccer, basketball, football, lacrosse, cross country, and track (where he qualified for District in the running long jump.)

He then attended Eastern Oregon University for a year before returning to Hermiston. Tyler worked for Golden Valley Farms driving combine and as a chef at Farmer’s Kitchen and later at Walker’s Farm Kitchen. He enjoyed preparing food for others and it gave him great satisfaction to prepare and share his creative dishes.

Tyler loved cooking, sports, photography, music, and taught himself how to play the guitar. He also loved his friends and cherished lifelong friendships.

He is survived by his mother, Donna Brown, Hermiston; daughter, Gemma Brown, Hermiston; brothers, Jason Brown and his wife Shawn, Portsmouth, Virg., and Ryan Brown, Hermiston; sister, Sara Prout, College Place, Wash.; grandmother, Mary Ketchersid, Pasco, Wash.; one niece and two nephews.

Tyler was preceded in death by his father, Bob Brown; and grandparents.

A celebration of life gathering will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at Burns Mortuary Chapel in Hermiston.
