Alvaro Solis Passes Away at 48

Alvaro Eloy Ramirez Solis of Hermiston passed away in Hermiston on July 5, 2026 at the age of 48.

He was born on July 24, 1977 in Zacatecas, Mexico to Serapio and Aurora Solis Ramirez.

Alvaro grew up and attended his schooling in Zacatecas, Mexico. He came to the United States in the late 1990s and had made Umatilla County his home since that time.

Alvaro worked for Marlette Manufactured Homes for several years. He also worked for J Lugo’s Construction and most recently he worked for the Walmart Distribution Center in Hermiston. He worked very hard throughout his career and at times worked two or three jobs at the same time.

Alvaro enjoyed playing soccer and going fishing. He loved spending time with his children and his grandchildren.

Alvaro married Amy Montoya in Hermiston on Sept. 9, 2002.

He is survived by his wife, Amy; parents, Serapio and Aurora Ramirez; daughters, Monique Montoya, Keisha Washington, Zoey Ramirez and Emily Ramirez; sons, Isaac Ramirez, Alvaro Ramirez Jr., Cesar Ramirez and Michael Ramirez; grandchildren, Ava Chavez, Roman Chavez, Nayah Carrillo and Ezekiel Carrillo; brothers, Samuel Ramirez, Cerapio Ramirez and Rene Ramirez; sisters, Helia Vargas, Yolanda Solis, Veronica Ramirez and Luzmila Palomino; and many extended family members.

Viewing will be held at Burns Mortuary on Thursday, July 9 from 3 to 7 p.m. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 6 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 10, 2026 at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church.

Burial will follow in the Hermiston Cemetery.
