For the second time in two days, a road construction worker was killed on the job site – this time on Interstate 84 near Boardman.

Oregon State Police are reporting that a Nevada man was killed around 11:12 a.m. on Wednesday when he was run over by a truck. It’s the second work-site accident involving a road construction worker in two days. On Tuesday, Donald Kendall, 54, of Ukiah was killed just after 1 p.m., during an accident on a chip seal paving operation on Highway 320 near milepost 35, which is south of Interstate 84 near Echo. Kendall was standing behind an ODOT dump truck when it began to slowly back up, struck Kendall and ran over him.

On Wednesday, Glen Warren McCoy, 64, of Sparks, Nev., was working as part of a construction company contracted by ODOT to install rumble strips at a paving project site in the westbound lanes of I-84 near milepost 158. According to the OSP, he was working outside of a 1999 Dodge pick-up truck operated by another employee when the truck began to slowly move forward, running over McCoy with its rear dual tires.

OSP, Morrow County Sheriff’s Office, Boardman Police Department, Boardman Fire Department, and Boardman Ambulance were dispatched to the scene.

One westbound lane was closed during the investigation. ODOT responded to the scene to assist with the investigation and traffic control.
