The Desert Arts Council will bring an evening of elegance as it presents the play, Love Letters, at the SAGE Center in Boardman on Feb. 15.
Doors open at 6 p.m. with an opportunity to tour the center. Hors d’ouvres and a complimentary glass of beer or wine will be available. The play will begin at 7 p.m. The cost is $20 for Desert Arts Council members and $40 for nonmembers.
“In our current time of social media, instant messaging, and tweets, Love Letters offers a contrast of social interactions through the amassed notes, letters and cards from over 50 years,” said Desert Arts Council President Mary Corp. Love Letters, Pulitzer Prize-nominated play by A. R. Gurney, explores the hopes and ambitions, dreams and disappointments, victories and defeats that have passed between two people throughout their separated lives.
“It is a warm, poignant and deeply touching performance that will resonate with today’s audience,” Corp said.
Actors Lilli Ann Linford-Foreman and Don Delach star in the production. Linford-Foreman is a speech instructor at Central Oregon Community College and moonlights as a long-time director and actor with Cascades Theatrical Company. Delach, has had several notable performances with CTC, most recently, Fuddy Meyers and Shooting Stars.
Tickets can be purchased at the Desert Arts Council website, the Hermiston Chamber of Commerce office and the Hermiston Parks and Recreation office at Hermiston City Hall.
“Attendees are encouraged to dress up for the evening,” Corp said. “Black-tie is optional, and, of course, blue jeans are welcome!”
The final event of the Desert Arts season will be the 10th Annual Hermiston Art Walk on the first weekend in May on Main Street in Hermiston. Visit the Desert Arts Council Facebook page for updates and more details. For more information call 541-567-1800.
