Because traditional school graduation ceremonies won’t be happening this spring due to COVID-19, Blue Mountain Community College has re-imagined commencement to allow graduates to be honored in a safe manner.

The BMCC Class of 2020 Commencement Parade of Graduates will take place on Thursday, June 11 at 7 p.m. on the Pendleton campus. Graduates can drive with their families in their personal vehicles up the hill and around the campus, with faculty and staff lining the roadway to cheer and celebrate as they pass. BMCC President Dennis Bailey-Fougnier and Board of Education Chair Heidi Van Kirk will be waiting at the top for official photographs with graduates, who will remain in their vehicles.

Graduates will also receive a commencement gift bag, which will include a tassel and diploma cover, as well as some gifts to honor their achievement. There are a few important deadlines for graduates who would like to participate in the parade; they’re available on the BMCC website. Email studentrecords@bluecc.edu with questions.
