The Boardman City Council voted to extend development incentives which were due to expire on June 30.

In an effort to encourage new construction in Boardman, the city council in January passed a resolution that temporarily waives water and sewer system development charges (SDC’s) for a period of six months. The resolution waives the SDC’s on a sliding scale based upon the number of Equivalent Dwelling Units built. All property owners or developers of residential or commercial property within the city limits are eligible for the waivers. The waivers were extended to expire Dec. 31, 2018.

In other city business, councilors heard an update from the city’s engineer regarding the on-going water and sewer upgrades. The council also approved and intergovernmental agreement with Morrow County, and all other cities in Morrow County to hire a consultant to create a county-wide buildable lands inventory.

The next Boardman City Council meeting will be Tuesday, April 3 at Boardman City Hall.
