Most of Oregon State University dorm residents have been allowed back into their halls following a bomb threat that was phoned in to the university Thursday evening.

All student dorm residence halls were evacuated Thursday evening while officers from the Oregon State Police, Corvallis Police Department and Benton County Sheriff’s Office checked the dorms for suspicious objects or packages.

The OSP reported that some residence halls were still being checked by law enforcement. So far, nothing suspicious has been found.

Evacuated students were instructed to go to either the Valley Library or Memorial Union until advised to return to their residence hall.

OSP reported that an unidentified person called the OSU Department of Public Safety around 7:15 p.m. with the threat, but didn’t identify a specific residence hall. All dorms were immediately evacuated while officers began conducting their search.

Anyone on campus observing suspicious packages or individuals are being asked to call the OSU Department of Public Safety at 541-737-7000.
