Brandy Jean “Shortshot” Parchen Rytting passed away after a long battle with cancer on Sept. 22, 2025 at her home in Umatilla at the age of 49, surrounded by her family.

She was born on June 3, 1976 in Othello, Wash. to David and Sandra Cardo Parchen.

She attended Othello High School. At the age of 17, she began her career in home health care by caring for her brother, Dean. She went on to dedicate 27 years of her life to the field, where she touched countless lives with her compassion and kindness.

Brandy married Danny Rytting on Aug. 21, 2004. He was her most favorite person on the planet. Together with their two children, Elijah and Theresa, they were blessed with three grandchildren, Linnea, Bennett, and Milo. Her family was her world, and she was truly happiest as an “Oma.”

Brandy had a love for all things musical. She treasured Pavarotti’s live version of Nessun Dorma. White Christmas in July was her jam, and The Hobbit was always playing in the background. She loved joking with family, making people laugh, and snuggling with her grandchildren – her favorite part of each day.

Brandy will be remembered for her generous spirit, playful humor, and love for Marvin the Martian. Her family will forever smile at the sound of her favorite sayings, especially “you’re so dumb” and “you’re pregnant”, which perfectly captured her unique sense of humor and love of laughter.

Brandy is survived by her husband, Danny Rytting; her children, Elijah (Victoria) Rytting and Theresa Ann (Charles) Takacs; her treasured grandchildren, Bennett, Linnea, and Milo; her sister, Debbie Duncan (James); her nephews, Matthew (Kayleigh) with son Silas, Justin (Michelle) with daughters Rhylee and

Addison, and Timothy (Kim) with sons Jackson and Idris; her brother, Jason Parchen; her brothers- and sisters-in-law, Patty, Ronda, Leola, Robert, Steven, and Theresa; along with many extended family members and friends who will carry her memory forward.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents; her father, David; her brothers, Dean and Roger; and her mother-in-law, Wanda.

A memorial service will be held on Oct. 11, 2025 at 1 p.m. at Marina Park, 430 Eighth St., N.E., Irrigon. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of Brandy’s life.

Her love lives on in her family, and her memory will forever remain a source of light and strength.

“Go after your dreams and don’t let anyone or anything stop you.”
