Cheryl Irwin Passes Away at 69

Cheryl Ann Irwin died on Sept. 3, 2026 at her home in Richland, Wash. at the age of 69.

She was born on Aug. 20, 1957 in Portland to Donald Sr. and Kathleen Hottell Irwin.

Cheryl was raised in Umatilla and Hermiston, graduating from Hermiston High School in the class of 1975. She later lived in Seattle, Wash. for a few years before moving to Tri-Cities, Wash., where she had lived since. Cheryl went to work for Fred Meyer when they opened the store in Richland, Wash. in 1982. She was the number one seniority employee at the store at the time of her passing. Cheryl had also worked for Ben Franklin Transit for 30 years as a dial-a-ride driver, where she formed many friendships over the years. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, photography, family holiday gatherings and spending time traveling, taking her nieces and nephews to the Oregon coast, the zoo and to Disney World.

She is survived by her sisters, Ellen Luntsford, Auburn, Wash. and Kathy Barton, Kennewick, Wash.; her significant other, Steven Starzyk; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Ronnie, Donnie, Karen, Ken, Jimmy and Sandi.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2026 at 12 noon at the Hermiston Cemetery.

A celebration potluck will follow.
