Claudia Jean Davis Dent of Irrigon passed away peacefully on Jan. 23, 2026 at Good Shepherd Hospital in Hermiston surrounded by loved ones at the age of 83.
She was born on Nov. 26, 1942 in Condon to William and Eleanor Davis.
Claudia lived a life defined by strength, independence, and heart. She was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She raised five beautiful children on her own in Hermiston, a testament to her resilience and determination. A true jack of all trades, Claudia worked as a rancher and had a lifelong love for horses. She later worked as a loader for crop dusters, where she met Jim Dent, whom she married on July 10, 1982. They spent many years together until his passing. She went on to work at Logan International in Boardman, eventually retiring from there.
In 1992 Claudia made her home in Irrigon, where she embraced and cherished her role as a loving and hands-on grandmother. In June 2002, she met her partner in life, Larry Hurst, and together they lived boldly and adventurously. As devoted Oregon Ducks fans, Claudia and Larry spent countless football seasons cheering at Autzen Stadium. They shared a love for their Jeep club, Harleys, and side-by-sides. They traveled far and wide on their motorcycles, always finding joy wherever the road took them.
Claudia will be remembered for her infectious laughter that rang like music and lit up every room. She was fiercely independent, fearless, and a true spitfire, blessed with a sharp sense of humor that made every moment brighter. Her love for her family and friends was immense and unwavering.
Claudia is survived by her children, Debbie (Angelo), Sarah (Jim), Kathi, and Johnny; her sister, Gere; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Bill and Michael; her husband, Jim Dent; and her daughter, Patty.
A private celebration of life will be held in Claudia’s honor.
