County Announces 2015 Fair Court

The Umatilla County Fair Board has crowned four princesses to serve on the 2015 Umatilla County Fair Court.

The 2015 fair court features Sevana Patrick of Hermiston, Catie Krumbah Kuhar of Milton-Freewater, Elizabeth Olson of Pendleton, and Kaleigh Waggoner of Pilot Rock.

Sevana Patrick
Sevana, 16, is a 10th grader at Hermiston High Schoo. She has won many titles and ribbons while showing goats and swine in 4-H and FFA including Outstanding Exhibitor at the Pendleton Junior Show in 2014. Her long list of achievements include a Greenhand degree, Chapter degree and serving as a Greenhand reporter. She is a National Honors Society member, an Outdoor School Counselor and is starting a Big Brother program in her community. In addition to track and swimming, Sevana enjoys participating in local runs and volunteering her time with the Special Olympics. In the future, she hopes to attend Oregon State University and possibly transfer to North Carolina or Virginia to pursue her dream of becoming an on-track equine veterinarian.

Catie Krumbah Kuhar
Catie, 16, is a junior and has shown swine in five livestock shows per year for the past two years. She has participated in livestock judging and tractor driving and has helped in the swine barns whenever she can. She has been in academic honor roll and has received several FFA championship ribbons for swine and tractor driving. Catie has attended FFA state convention for two years in a row and attended a national FFA convention. Currently, Catie serves as a volunteer firefighter with the Milton-Freewater Rural Fire Department and has refereed several youth softball teams. Although she has not decided on her major in college, she knows she would like to remain in Oregon for her higher education studies.

Elizabeth Olsen
Elizabeth 16, is a junior and has been involved in the Umatilla County Fair since 2009 showing rabbits, photographs, posters and entering the 4-H presentation contest. During her vice- presidency in her 4-H club, she has participated in numerous community service activities. This past year, she attended the Eastern Oregon Leadership Retreat and also served on the Umatilla County Fair Court. Elizabeth has won numerous ribbons for her fair displays and for showing animals, all while taking college courses and maintaining honor roll throughout her school years. She has also occupied the second chair as a violinist for the Inland Northwest Musicians. To date, she has volunteered 150 of her free hours at the Pendleton Veterinary Clinic and hopes become a small animal veterinarian. Her goal is to obtain her bachelor’s degree in mathematics at Eastern Oregon State University.

Kaleigh Waggoner
Kaleigh, 17, is a junior and has shown sheep, modeled, cooked, sewn, judged livestock, presented table-settings, participated in public speaking and volunteered at the Umatilla County Fair for the past seven years. She has received numerous awards through FFA and 4-H. Some of her accomplishments include 4-H club president, FFA Chapter historian, secretary and vice president, basketball team captain, FLICC vice president and ASTRA committee chairman. She has volunteered at community dinners, Tonya’s House, the Pendleton Round-Up, for her church and at various community clean-up events. When she’s not riding horses, Kaleigh also runs varsity cross-country and track and field.

The 2015 Umatilla Fair Court will be directed by Court Chaperone team Alice Newman of Hermiston and Machelle Watts of Patterson, Wash.
