Craig Barton succumbed to melanoma cancer on April 28, 2013. Craig was born on Jan. 29, 1956 in Lubbock, Texas, to his parents Roland and Ann Barton.

Craig is survived by his wife of nearly 21 years, Monica, parents Roland and Ann Barton of MerIdahoian, Idaho, mother-in-law Sharon Cole of Portland, OR, sister Quinn Bates and her husband Michael Bates of MerIdahoian, Idaho, daughter Miste Gardner of MerIdahoian, Idaho, son Jason Barton and wife Shantel of Boise, Idaho, son Jerod Barton and wife Nicole of Nampa, Idaho, step-son Ben Rhode of Pendleton, OR, step-daughter Kristen Rhode of Tigard, OR, seven grandchildren and two nephews and wives of MerIdahoian, Idaho.

Craig attended high school in Caldwell, Idaho and Parma, Idaho, where he also worked for Parma Water Lifter Company. Craig later drove trucks for both short and long haul operations, eventually becoming an independent trucker for several years. He also worked for J.R. Simplot in the potato harvesting business and moved to Hermiston, OR. He later went to work for Lamb Weston where he spent the rest of his career, becoming Field Lead and dedicated his working life to the local operations for over 20 years. Craig and his family enjoyed many wonderful times boating, camping and fishing in the mountains of Oregon and Idahoaho and the coast of Oregon. He also loved baseball and football, following his favorite teams the Seattle Mariners, Seattle Seahawks, Dallas Cowboys and the Boise State Broncos.

Craig was known for his warm smile which he displayed continually. He always had a positive attitude, showing more concern for the comfort and well-being of those around him that for himself. Craig was a warm and tender man who truly left his mark with those fortunate enough to get acquainted with him.

Craig was baptized into the Lord, in the church of Christ at Hereford, Texas in 1967. In his last days he re-affirmed his love for God, asking for His forgiveness, expressed his desires for his family’s salvation and his hope to see us all in Heaven.

There will be a Memorial Service at Burns Mortuary Chapel on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 2 p.m.

The body will be cremated and the remains buried in the Hermiston Cemetery at a private-family only ceremony, immediately following the memorial service. Please sign the condolence book at burnsmortuaryhermiston.com
