SALEM, Ore.-Applications for Oregon Agricultural Workforce Housing Grants (OAWHG) are due March 18.
The Oregon Department of Agriculture (ODA) has $5 million in OAWHG available as allocated by the State Legislature in 2023.
OAWFG provide financial help to improve the health and safety of existing housing for agricultural workers and their families, according to the ODA.
Operators of Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OHSA)-registered agricultural workforce housing sites are eligible to apply for the grants.
Applications must include proof of registration, a project description and a detailed budget. Completed applications can be emailed to grants@oda.oregon.gov with the subject line: Oregon Department of Agriculture OAWFG Application.
According to the ODA, grant funds may not be used for housing that is provided as a requirement for workers under the H-2A temporary agriculture program or any other temporary employment visa program, the construction of new housing units, operational or maintenance expenses, or the purchase of any new lands.
All applications will be reviewed to ensure they meet ODA program requirements, and the grant period is expected to run from about May through the end of the year.
